“Hey! Where’s your portfolio?”

Since the web is taking a turn around the corner, new questions should be asked when looking for a designer. Here are a few examples.

  • How fast is my site? and what can I do to speed it up?
  • Is my site search engine friendly? and if not, why?
  • Where do I rank for my keywords? and what if I don’t have keywords?
  • How long are people staying on my site? and why?
  • What % of my visitors are bouncing upon landing on my site? and why?

If you don’t know the answers to these questions, we can help you. We focus more on how people get to your site and how they interact with your site than we do on how “pretty” or “cool” it looks. We could show you examples of our work but we’d rather show you results. If you would like to learn more, please fill out our Get More Info form.

Here’s one example

Ben’s Patch and Paint is a painting company located just outside of Austin, Texas. When I first sat down with Ben, he asked for www.BensPatchandPaint.com but I asked him to consider having www.AustinHousePainting.net since more people will be looking for House Painting in Austin than they will be looking for Ben’s Patch and Paint.

I told him that he can still have Ben’s Patch and Paint at the top of his homepage and that we can put www.BensPatchandPaint.com on his business cards as well. So now if someone takes his card and types in www.BensPatchandPaint.com it is automatically forwarded to www.AustinHousePainting.net. This is a good idea for another reason as well. We can look at the Google Analytics and see how many people came to the site from BensPatchandPaint.com. He can now better track people after handing out a business card.

Got Results?

We did very little SEO on this site besides making it search engine friendly and of course the keyword rich domain name. His site had only been up two weeks before it landed on the front page of Google for the keyword, “Austin House Painting”. I know I didn’t part the Red Sea with this one idea but imagine where he would have been for “Austin House Painting” if his domain name wasn’t keyword rich?

Yellow Puts You in the Red

Ben was quoted almost $1,200 per month to advertise in the Yellow Pages. He passed on that deal and went with a search engine friendly web site that resides on a keyword rich domain. That decision saved him $700 on the first month and will save him $1200 the second month. The beautiful thing about a website (if setup correctly) opposed to the yellow pages is that your “leads” are qualified. Ben won’t be receiving an email from a website visitor asking him to paint a Harley.
